The Dance Marathon Large Projects Grant

Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan improves the quality of life for children with disabilities by:
• Developing relationships between college students and participating families
• Raising funds in a creative and energetic manner to support pediatric rehabilitation programs
• Educating the campus and community about our cause

The Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan is pleased to announce a Large Projects Grant Opportunity.

What: The Large Projects Grant is for projects aligned with DMUM’s mission that request $25,000 to $50,000 and can be implemented within a 12-month timeframe. The grant is for new and innovative programs for children affiliated with the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Services. The Large Projects Grant Request is made by completing our application form. The completed application must include contact information for a department head who must be aware and consenting to the project.

Purpose of Grant: The purpose of the grant is to provide a large sum of money to help launch a new project that works to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities or limitations. The grant is intended to be used as start-up money for a program that would continue beyond the 12-month duration of the grant by other funders. The project should work to improve the quality of life for a child with a limitation in a manner that is emotional, social, or physical in nature.

Grant Requirements: The grant recipient will receive the full sum of money at the beginning of the 12-month period. Recipient must provide quarterly reports that monitor and evaluate the project. Quarterly reports will include updated budget and expense report. If recipient does not use full award by the end of the 12-month timeframe then money will be returned to DMUM. In the event that this project generates published research material, DMUM would expect to be acknowledged and receive copy of said material. We will provide our logo for use on program materials.

Grant Limitations: Applicants must be affiliated with UMHHS. The grant will not cover salary costs. The proposed project must have alternative funding opportunities for years to come, as Dance Marathon intends to fund only for a 12-month timeframe.
