Dance Marathon Committees
Dance Marathon has a wide variety of committees that encompasses a variety of skill sets, including but not limited to web develpoment, graphic design, public realtions, social media, and financial management. The committees form a vital sturcture upon which without the organization owuld not be able to function. Below find descriptions of the four associate teams and their committees.

Marketing and Recruitment

The purpose of the Marketing and Recruitment committee is to brand and promote Dance Marathon in a way that encourages campus and community members to get involved in the organization. By conceptualizing campaigns and designing various advertising materials, Marketing & Recruitment creates the Dance Marathon image. Marketing & Recruitment is also responsible for maintaining relations with other student organizations across campus.
Community Outreach

The main goal of the Community Outreach Committee is to expand Dance Marathon's presence off campus. By creating opportunities to spread awareness about our cause, this committee unites people of all ages, interests, and backgrounds. Not only do they plan and execute community events that get people excited about DMUM's mission, but they are also responsible for communicating our cause to the public through various forms of media, such as newspaper, radio, and television. Additionally, this committee fosters student leaders throughout the state of Michigan with the Mini Marathon Program. This Program allows students K-12 to develop leadership skills while also serving the community as they plan and execute their own Dance Marathon. This committee is ideal for fun- loving individuals who have an interest in public relations, event planning, or who simply want to spread the word about this awesome organization!
Development

Establishing new ways of reaching out and creating stronger relationships with the growing number of alumni and developing a unique DM experience that will carry on after graduation. The committee will also strategically plan and implement the Annual Giving and Alumni Giving campaigns of Dance Marathon, fundraising and encouraging monetary support from past donors and Alumni in order to raise more funds to support our cause!
Corporate and Foundation Relations

Responsible for soliciting philanthropic donations from and building sustainable relationships with local and national corporations and charitable foundations. This committee is responsible for the grant writing for Dance Marathon.

Dancer Fundraising

The Dancer Relations committee is responsible for ensuring that dancers have a fun and fulfilling Dance Marathon experience by facilitating events that promote unity amongst dancers.
Dancer Relations

FR representatives help to create an unwavering passion for the Dance Marathon cause. Members of this committee will enjoy a direct relationship with the families we support through continued interaction with kids and families. The main tasks for an FR representative are to make the Dance Marathon experience as enjoyable as possible for families, encourage dancer participation in volunteering, and plan family and education events such Charity Ball and Therapy Challenge.
Family Relations

Administration

Administration is a growing committee and provides members with a behind the scenes view on how DM runs. The majority of this committee is focused on the expanding DM database, and will work on improving the system to create comprehensive reports using all kinds of data. There are many professional, leadership positions available!
Financial Management

Works to maintain Dance Marathon's financial stability and tracks all money coming into the organization. Committee members will be responsible for attending weekly money counting meetings.
Digital Marketing

We operate, maintain, and innovate Dance Marathon's online image. This year, we are in charge of DMUM.org and our Blog as well as expanding our presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.

Entertainment

The Entertainment Committee is responsible for recruiting performers, organizing the schedule, and managing the production for the Marathon and Live! Michigan (a variety show in October at the Mendelsohn Theater). Creativity is a must, we want to mix things up and have fun! As a member of the Entertainment Committee you'll gain experience in public relations, event planning and management. You'll also be able to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Event Planning

Members of the Event Planning committee get to play an integral role in making the Marathon a success while also maintaining many of our partnerships with contributing businesses. EM members get to be behind-the-scenes making sure the event runs smoothly while developing their event event planning skills! EM is responsible for all of the logistics of the event. This includes organizing set-up and tear-down, designing the layout, obtaining food donations, and contacting volunteers. Aside from the Marathon, EP members also plan the Gala in the fall and various other DMUM events!
Morale

The Morale Committee's responsibility is to create an exciting team atmosphere, plan and execute events and activities during the year and at the Marathon. Each Morale Captain is paired with two teams, and will work with his or her Dancer Captains and dancers to keep them informed about DM events and energized throughout the year, as well as at the Marathon. The committee of 24-28 members will be broken down into four smaller subcommittees which focus on media production, team competitions, group activities, and break-making. Members of the Morale Committee should be dedicated, supportive, enthusiastic, and creative.
